Our mission is to discover and collect material to help establish or illustrate the history of the individuals, communities, enterprises of Cumberland County Illinois, to preserve the collected materials and provide for public access to them, to undertake and assist in the preservation of historic buildings and sites, to integrate and educate the public in the history of Cumberland County and Illinois, and to work with other organizations to collect and preserve materials of state-wide significance.

The Greenup Museum Complex consists of three 100+ year-old buildings that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. All are open to the public and house a vast collection of historical items.

Hours for Johnson Building, Depot, and Military Museum:
Hours: 11am-3pm Saturday
Volunteers try to keep the buildings open, but if you are planning a special trip or want to bring a group, please call one of the numbers below. That way, a volunteer will set up an appointment for you at the museums so that you are sure to be able to enter them.
Group tours available by appointment.
